Secure remote administration of Sharepoint Team Services by using SSL to protect names and passwords. Use the https://sample.microsoft.com:1439 /fpadmdll.dll to access the URL to connect. Control access to fpadmdll.dll or fpadmcgi.exe. This code is used for administration. Use a nonstandard HTTP port for connection to fpadmdll.lll or fpadmcgi.exe. In Windows, by default, a nonstandard port is created for you, but this can be changed. If the extensions are used on UNIX, you must create the administration port. On Windows, don t use IIS to change the port, as this can break the shortcut to the HTML admin pages from the Start menu. Instead, use the setadminport operation:

Secure Administration of SQL Server Microsoft SQL Server databases can include any type of data. When a SQL Server database is used as part of an e-commerce site, credit card numbers, private customer information, billing information, and thousands of pieces of important and critical information live within the database. Compromise of this system can mean more than just a few hours of downtime while the system is recovered, it can mean substantial loss of money, loss of customer trust, and even legal action. To secure administration of SQL Server:

Determine whether a user has been granted or denied access to an Active Directory object. It can also be used to reset access con trol lists (ACLs) to their default state. Add, delete, and move objects in the directory (including schema and configuration naming contexts). Object attributes can be viewed, modified, and deleted.

Divide administrative responsibility into administration of the database and administration of the operating system. Database administrators should not be responsible for basic operating system maintenance, and network adminis trators have no business managing a database. Assign a specific custom group as the SQL Server administrators, and remove the SQL logon for the default builtin\administrators group. Server administrators might know little about administering SQL Server, and the data stored there might be sensitive. Restricting administrative access to sensitive data is always a good idea. Restrict cmdExec to sysadmin role. cmdExec is used by the SQL Server agent to execute Windows command-line applications and scripts. These are often scheduled tasks created by the system administrator. Allow only members of the system administrator role to schedule jobs. Prior to the release of Service Pack 3 (SP3) for SQL Server, scheduling by a nonprivileged user was allowed. A nonprivileged user could run privileged com mands in scheduled jobs.
